Part 3: Build Small Garden Signs

The next part of my project was to construct small signs displaying plant names to be placed in the Community garden at 6 Stones. The basic design of the signs is a square piece of corrugated plastic with a bent wire through it (See picture of “Basic Design” below).

We first had to gather all our materials. We were able to get all of the corrugated plastic and hangers we needed donated by friends. We had to order the Waterslide Decal Paper (used to print the names) and had to purchase the Krylon spray (for waterproofing), but other than that we were very fortunate to recieve donations.

I went through a 14 step process to make the signs. In the below photos my process is spelled out. If you are wanting to repeat my process, feel free to repeat the long 15 step process; however, if you want a less expensive, quicker process, I have also included a 5 step process. The difference between the two processes is one includes the use of Waterslide Decal paper as opposed to permanent marker or paint pen to write on the signs.

In all I made about 40 signs. A few examples are pictured below.
